While issues related to sexual orientation and gender identity have become more prominent in society, individuals who identity as lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) continue to face harassment and discrimination. The absence of institutionalized supports at national and state levels requires LGBT individuals and their allies to develop and enact supports locally. The purpose of this course is to educate and empower individuals who have a desire to act as an ally for LGBT people and issues. During this 3-hour course, participants will engage in a series of interactive and reflexive activities that explore issues related to sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, and ally identity. All are welcome to attend.
