Resource Guides

African and African American Studies
Includes a number of relevant resources related to African and African American Studies, including local Knoxville-area resources and Internet resources. Maintained by Felicia H. (Felder) Hoehne, Humanities Reference Librarian.

African Americans in Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine
Includes print and web resources related to African Americans in the field of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine. Print resources are available at both the Pendergrass and Hodges Libraries. Guide created and maintained by Shantel Agnew, Research Assistant Professor/Diversity Resident Librarian.

Black History Month
Includes lists and links to other relevant resource guides pertaining to black history and the African American Experience, as well as links to online exhibits and a list of reference materials available in the UT Libraries.

Martin Luther King Jr.
Guide created by LouAnn Blocker, Tom Smith, Maud Mundava, & Donna Braquet as a project of the UT Libraries’ Diversity Committee in celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day 2005. Guide includes links to resources on his speeches, video & audio, the labor movement, the Civil Rights Movement, and Non-violent movements. Also includes a link to his chronology, information on the holiday and information on his Nobel Peace Prize.

American Indian Heritage Month
Guide created by LaVerne Gray and Shantel Agnew in celebration of American Indian Heritage Month. The guide includes hints on searching the UT Libraries catalog by subject, background information, biographies, atlases, history & culture, online resources, videos, fiction and non-fiction resources, as well as journals and periodicals.

Disability Resource Guide
Includes information on campus, local & state, federal, advocacy and library resources. Resources include presentations, websites and books.

Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender Resource Guide
Includes information on local resources, Coming Out, Homophobia, and GLBT History. Resources highlighted include books available at Hodges Library and websites and resources available online.

Hispanic Heritage Resources
Originally created in celebration of the 2004 Hispanic Heritage Month, this list of resources highlights items located in the UT Libraries’ Reference area that pertain to Hispanic Americans and their countries of origin. The list also includes selected CD resources available at the George F. DeVine Music Library.

Women’s Studies on the Web
