Cultural Diversity Grant, June 2004
The Libraries’ Diversity Residents received the 2004 LAMA (Library
Administration and Management Association) Cultural Diversity Grant.
The grant will be used to support a Diversity
Librarians’ Network, which will be created to help Diversity
librarians find residency programs and employment, and to provide
a forum for sharing ideas. Read the grant application.
National Diversity in Libraries Conference, May, 2004
Committee members submitted a program proposal to the National Diversity
in Libraries Conference and a committee member served on the conference
publicity committee. Several Committee members attended the conference,
which explored ways that libraries can support and improve diversity
programs. The University of Tennessee was a Gold Sponsor of the
conference.
Tennessee Library Association Conference, March 2004
Several committee members presented diversity-related programs at
the 2004 annual conference of the Tennessee Library Association.

Association of College & Research Libraries National Conference,
April 2003
At the 11th National ACRL Conference, Diversity Committee members
conducted a roundtable session and presented a poster session. The
roundtable discussion was entitled "Collaborating to Achieve Diversity"
(Jill Keally, Thura Mack, Molly Royse). The poster session, "Charting
a Course for Diversity: An Experience in Climate Assessment," described
the Committee's climate assessment project (Tiffani Conner, Tamara
Miller, Molly Royse). See photos of the roundtable

Tennessee Library Association Conference, April 2003
At TLA 2003, Committee members participated via two presentatiMay 9, 2008ons were: "Moving Beyond:
Recognizing and Transforming Barriers to Diversity" (Virginia Bayne,
LouAnn Blocker, Dianne Myers, Sheila Stephens) and "Discovering
Your Diversity Climate" (Tiffani Conner, Tamara Miller, Molly Royse).
The poster session (Thura Mack, Molly Royse) was entitled "Diversity
@ Our Library: The Evolution of a Diversity Initiative at UT Libraries". See some photos of the poster session.
Tennessee Library Association Pre-Conference, April 2003
Members of the Diversity Committee (Tiffani Conner, Jill Keally,
Thura Mack, Becky Roller, Molly Royse) conducted a pre-conference
entitled "Diversity is Excellence: Ensuring a Successful Future."
Fees for the pre-conference were subsidized through the LAMA Cultural
Diversity Grant awarded to the Committee in Spring '02. See
