Paul J. Adams Photograph Collection
Paul J. Adams Photograph CollectionIn the 1920s, Paul Jay Adams led several expeditions to the summit of Mount Le Conte, which is widely regarded as the "crown jewel" of the Great Smoky Mountains. From 1925 to 1926, Adams operated a camp on Mount Le Conte, near the site of the present day Le Conte Lodge. During those years, Adams was accompanied by a German shepherd named "Cumberland Jack." The Ilene Jones Cornwell Papers, MS.2054, in the University of Tennessee Libraries Special Collections contain a number of photographs from Adams's expeditions during those years. These rare photos provide a unique glimpse into one of the earliest camps built on Mount Le Conte.

William Cox Cochran Photograph CollectionWilliam Cox Cochran captured these 89 images of East Tennessee during August 12 thru 30, 1886. The photographs are of East Tennessee people and landmarks, mostly located in what is now the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
Kintner Panoramas
Dr. Elgin P. Kintner PanoramasDr. Elgin P. Kintner, former Blount County pathologist and dedicated hiker of the Great Smoky Mountains, created these images in the 1960s and 1970s. Many were taken from fire towers that are no longer standing, offering a perspective on the Smokies that cannot be duplicated today. Through modern technology, they have been stitched together to form an extraordinary groups of panoramas.

Arrowmont CollectionFrom Pi Beta Phi to Arrowmont is a fully-searchable digital collection of letters, diaries, photographs, scrapbooks written and compiled by Settlement School teachers; images of contemporary art pieces housed at Arrowmont, including a 360-degree interactive gallery; and short printed items that document the history of the Pi Beta Phi Settlement School and Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts.
Albert "Dutch" Roth Collection
Roth CollectionThis online archive presents the work of one of the most important photographers of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Some 1200 digital images depict pioneer life in the Greenbrier and Mt. Le Conte Sections, and document the early stages of the park’s creation.
Tales from the Woods
Tales from the WoodsPersonal journal of Albert G. "Dutch" Roth, documenting hikes in the Great Smoky Mountains area through stories and photographs spanning 1924-1959. With his camera and typewriter, Roth records observations of the people and places of the mountains from 728 documented hikes.
