The Lindsay Young Fund, the Libraries' largest private endowment, was established in 1989 by prominent Knoxvillian attorney Lindsay Young for the "acquisitions that will make a qualitative difference in the collection of the Library." Each year humanities faculty and librarians consider recommendations and nominate scholarly titles for approval by the Deans of Librarians and the College of Arts & Sciences. Thanks to the generous support of the Lindsay Young Fund, all areas of the Libraries' humanities collections have been enhanced by important print and microform sets, rare manuscripts and printed editions, indexes and databases, and films and video tapes.
