Faculty Studies

ABOUT FACULTY STUDIES
• The Library has studies available for faculty who need frequent access to research materials
• Fill out the online application form to request a faculty study
• Personal materials may be kept in studies at the owner's risk
• Eating, drinking, and smoking are not permitted in studies
• See sections below for information on Checking Materials Out to studies and for Removing Materials
• Direct questions about study policies to the Circulation Department (974-4351)


Graduate Carrels

ABOUT GRADUATE CARRELS
• The Library has graduate carrels available for currently enrolled graduate students and undergraduates in honors programs who need to gather and hold research materials from the collection
• Carrels are located around the perimeters of stack floors three through six. More than one person may be assigned to each carrel
• Apply for a carrel at the Hodges Main Circulation Desk (second floor)
• Assignments are made throughout the year, except at the beginning of each semester. Carrels must be renewed annually
• Carrels contain no lockable space; personal materials should not be kept on carrels
• Eating, drinking, and smoking are not permitted in carrels

• Direct questions about carrel policies to the Circulation Department (974-4351)

CHECKING OUT MATERIALS TO FACULTY STUDIES AND GRADUATE CARRELS
• Complete a carrel slip (available at the Circulation Desk). Take the slip and the item to the Circulation Desk for checkout
• Items and their carrel slips, must remain in the study or carrel. Library books checked out to graduate carrels should be placed on the top surface of the carrel's "L" arm or its bookshelf
• Books may be checked out to studies and carrels for the academic year
• Periodicals cannot be checked out to a study or carrel
• Items that have not been checked out will be removed from studies and carrels

REMOVING MATERIALS FROM FACULTY STUDIES AND GRADUATE CARRELS
• When a book is no longer needed in a study or carrel, turn the carrel slip around so that the "Return To Stacks" message is visible. Notify the Circulation Desk to remove the book
• Books may be removed from a study or carrel when requested by another person or for Reserve. A notice will be placed in the study or carrel from which a book is taken


Lost and Found

• Items found in the library may be turned in at the desk of any department. Within a day or two the departments send found items to the Library Lost & Found located at the main circulation desk on the second floor. These items are held in the Library Lost/Found for approximately one month after which time they are sent to Campus Lost &Found located at UT Police Department
• Lost/Found wallets and purses are sent to the UT Police Department as soon as possible
• Lost/Found UT IDs are turned in to the Vol Card office after being held at the Library Lost & Found for a short time


Proxy Cards

• Proxy cards are available to UT Faculty, and allow graduate assistants (or other designated individuals) to check out books for the faculty member. The faculty member is responsible for all materials checked out on his/her proxy card(s)
• UT Faculty can obtain up to three proxy cards. The faculty member may appear in person at the 2nd Floor Circulation desk or the Agriculture & Veterinary Medicine Library desk, with their UT ID to obtain a proxy card or
• Fill out the online application form to obtain a proxy card (netid login required).
• Proxy cards are issued with expiration dates of up to three years from date of issue. Expired cards can be replaced with a new card by coming to the 2nd Floor Circulation desk in Hodges Library or the main desk at the Agriculture & Veterinary Medicine Library and filling out a new proxy card application
• Lost or stolen proxy cards should be reported to the Circulation Department as soon as possible
