Description: This WEB site provides information concerning position classification policy for work performed in the Federal Government in white collar occupations that are covered by the General Schedule (GS), and blue collar occupations that are covered by the Federal Wage System (FWS).
It includes documents that provide:
(1) general information about the classification of these positions,
(2) brief definitions of the occupations identified in these classification systems,
(3) General Schedule position classification standards,
(4) Federal Wage System job grading standards,
(5) information on filing a classification appeal, and
(6) a number of related documents.

This information is also available on a CD-ROM entitled: Classification, Compensation, and Performance Reference Library, available in the Documents and Microforms department. This CD-ROM is an electronic version of Handbook of Occupational Groups and Families, available in print in Documents and Microforms.
