Description: AMERICA: HISTORY AND LIFE is a bibliographic database covering the world's scholarly literature in history. Included are article abstracts and citations to book reviews and dissertations on the history and culture of the United States and Canada from prehistoric times to the present.

Articles are abstracted from more than 2,400 journals published in approximately 40 languages. Of these journals, about 900 are published in the United States and Canada, including journals of state and local historical societies, the social sciences and humanities generally, and leading journals in related fields of knowledge. The editors survey the foreign periodicals to include all articles on American history and life.

Access is also provided to the full-text of journals in the JSTOR archive, such as The American Historical Review and The Journal of Southern History. Users are able to link to full-text from abstracts that date back to 1954. Some full-text access to articles is also available via Project Muse.
