Information About: Black Drama, 2nd ed.
Subjects: Africa and African American literature, drama, theater
Description: By late 2003, this database will contain the full-text of 1,200 plays written by playwrights from North America, English-speaking Africa, the Caribbean, and other African diaspora countries. Included in the collection are previously unpublished plays by wirters such as Langston Hughes and Zora Neale Hurston. The plays are accompanied by reference materials, a rich performance database, and images.
Users can browse the database by plays, authors, characters, theaters, productions, companies, media resources (posters, playbills, articles, etc.), subjects, and years. Full-text searching for keywords and phrases can be further limited using such fields as the author's gender and race, number of scenes and acts, and the character's occupation and gender.
