2. What do I need to use the Media
Center?
A valid UT ID is required to use the Media Center's facilities
and materials. Exceptions for instruction or research purposes
can be made by the Media Center Staff.

5. Is there a charge for using the
Lindsay Young Auditorium or the Group Viewing Rooms?
No, the Media Center does not charge for the use of its
facilities.
6. How many poeple do the Lindsay Young
Auditorium and/or the Group Viewing Rooms hold?

7. Can I check videos out of the Media
Center?

8. Can Media Center videotapes be copied?
No there are copyright issues that prevent programs from
being duplicated. However, brief clips from videotapes can
be used for presentation purposes in UT classes. The Studio
has the facilities to enable this.
9. Can other libraries obtain Media
Center materials through interlibrary loan?
Except for other members of the "information Alliance"
(which currently includes only the University of Kentucky
and Vanderbilt University) the Media Center does not loan
out materials to other libraries.
10. Can I check out any equipment
from the Media Center?
The Media Center's equipment is only available for use
in its rooms in Hodges Library. For equipment to check out
and take to another building, contact the Instructional
Services Center in the Claxton Addition at 974-4101. The
Studio does check out digital still cameras, digital video
cameras, and lighting kits.
11. My class is meeting in one of
the Group Veiwing Rooms, how do I find out which one?
You can come by our service desk and ask one of the staff
or call us on at 974-4473.
12. Can I use my own materials in
the Media Center?
Yes you are welcome to bring in and use any materials/equipment
that you wish. However, the Media Center takes no responsibility
for any damage that occurs to your materials/equipment nor
does it guarantee its security. The Media Center will try
to assist you with any equipment you bring in, but naturally
there may be some equipment that we are not familiar with.
Please call ahead or ask at the desk about particular pieces
of equipment that you plan to bring and inform us ahead
of time about any equipment needs you will have.
13. My VHS/DVD is coded for a different
region than the United States, does the Media Center have
a machine that can play it?
Yes we have both code-free DVD machines and all-region
VHS machines available for use in the Media Center.
14. How do I cite a video in a paper
that I am writing?
15. Can I hold a teleconference in
one of the Media Center's rooms?
Any UT faculty member, UT department, or UT organization
may schedule a room for a teleconference. The Media Center
will provide the room and the viewing equipment. You will
have to contact Carolyn Dexter at ITES (974-2546 cdexter@utk.edu)
about connecting to the satellite feed so that they can
send the signal to the Media Center. If you require a telephone,
you will need to contact Telephone Services at 974-3121
and have them acivate a phone line and bring a phone. Telephone
services does charge for this service.
