Submit your art for exhibition in the Library

First Prize of $300

Selected two-dimensional works (drawings, graphic design, prints, photography, painting) will be on display in the exhibit area in the PAUL M. & MARION T. MILES READING ROOM 135 Hodges during the spring semester.  The contest is open to all currently enrolled undergraduate and graduate students, in any discipline.

  • Sep 4 submission deadline midnight (Limit three entries per artist)
  • Sep. 12-16 committee will review art online and make selections (selected artists are notified by email)
  • Sep. 20 deadline to bring in selected art to Hodges Library second floor service desk
  • Sep. 22 mount the exhibit
  • Sep. 23: 4:00 opening reception and award ceremony.

UT Libraries will display selected art until Nov. 4th.  Once dismounted the art may be collected at the Hodges Library second floor service desk.

Accepted art is expected to be available for the entire exhibit.

Fall 2016 Student Art in the Library Competition

    I certify that this work is original art and is not a derivative of any existing work in any other format.
    I understand that in offering my work of art for display in the Student Art in the Library Exhibit in UT Libraries that I release and discharge and agree to indemnify and hold harmless the University of Tennessee Libraries and its employees from all loss, cost, damages and liabilities for injury or damages or theft occurring during or arising from such works of art including the hanging of such work of art.
    I understand that once the art is on exhibit it is required to remain on display for the full exhibit.
    Art work submitted without medium and dimensions or presented in a medium or dimension other than what is noted when submitted will be disqualified.
    I understand that artists will be notified when the exhibition is dismantled and work is available to pick up from UT Libraries. Artwork not retrieved within 6 months of notification will be considered permanent property of UT Libraries.
    I hereby give my permission for UT Libraries to include images of my submitted work in print publications or digital media, including uploading to the university's institutional repository.
    Note: Limit three works per artist.
