The University Archives maintains and collects all the publications of the University
of Tennessee Press. Established as a scholarly publisher in 1940, UT Press stimulates
scholarly research in many fields, channels such studies to a large readership,
and extends the regional leadership of the University by publishing research
projects concerned with the South. UT Press specializes in American studies,
concentrating on history, archaeology, vernacular architecture, material culture,
religion, folklore, literature, African American studies, Native American studies,
and works in all disciplines concerned with Appalachia and the Southeast. Further,
the press has earned a national reputation for excellence, and it has published
titles representing both traditional and cutting-edge scholarship. The Press's
editorial point of view reflects an awareness of social and quality-of-life
issues and results in books that inform thought and policy as well as contribute
to scholarship.
Materials may be requested in the Reading Room of the
Special Collections Library . UT Press books still in print may be purchased directly from the
UT Press Home Page. Titles kept by the Archives can be accessed via
