Biographical Note/Information:  Mildred Simpson was a University of Tennessee student in the late 1930s and early 1940s.  She was active in Greek life and collected a large amount of ephemeral material for a scrapbook.

Scope and Content Note: This collection contains a scrapbook compiled by Miss Mildred Simpson.  The scrapbook documents her years at the University of Tennessee, approximately 1937-1941, even though some materials date to 1935.  The front and back covers of the scrapbook remain in good condition and each has a photograph of a group of girls presumably in front of the women's dormitory.  Among the contents of the scrapbook are invitations and programs for Greek sponsored events and university sponsored games, plays, and ceremonies.  Much of the memorabilia consists of newspaper articles, photographs, and clippings from the society pages.  She saved novelties such as restaurant napkins and menus, matchbooks, and candy wrappers, which provides a glimpse into the University of Tennessee and the commercial world of the 1930s and 1940s.  The collection consists of scrapbook pages and loose materials.
