Biographical Note: Claiming 1794 as its date of origination, the University of Tennessee celebrated its bicentennial in 1994. As part of the celebration, it published special histories of departments and the University as a whole, began the annual Charter Day, and sponsored many individual celebrations across the University of Tennessee campus.

Scope and Content Note: This collection consists of materials gathered and created for the University of Tennessee Bicentennial Celebrations held during 1994. It includes written memoirs or journals of individual's recollections of the University of Tennessee, two copies of Through the Arch: Home Economics to Human Ecology 1897-1994, The Vision Lives On: The University of Tennessee Bicentennial, 1794-1994, and memorabilia including bumperstickers, window stickers, pins, and two medals commemorating Old College, the first academic building on the University's present location in Knoxville.
