Biographical Note: Terrace Avenue buildings were purchased and demolished by the University of Tennessee to make room for future development and expansion in 2005. The Terrace Avenue buildings were utilized by the University first as locations of departmental programs and annexes before being slated for destruction.
Scope and Content Note:
This collection includes photographs of interiors and exteriors of buildings on Terrace Avenue,
Knoxville, TN, that were purchased and demolished by the University of Tennessee. Most photographs
are of the interior of the buildings. Buildings included are 1838, 1844, 1852, 1900, 1912, 2008, 2020,
2022, 2046, 2100 Terrace Avenue. Each file includes a map of the area with the buildings to be
demolished marked, dated 2004. Many buildings have been replaced with parking lots. See also
