Biographical Note: The American Association of University Professors was founded in 1915 to advance the standards, ideals and welfare of the academic profession. They focus on promoting faculty tenure, academic freedom, financial welfare, and other related issues.

Scope and Content Note: This collection includes correspondence, reports, and brochures for the American Association of University Professors UT chapter, from 1954 to 1959. There is also the typed minutes of the April 1991 AAUP meeting. Correspondence includes investigations into the forced retirement of Dr. Brooks D. Drain, Horticulturalist of the Agricultural Experiment Station, reports on the financial conditions of programs and faculty at the University of Tennessee. Correspondence is usually between faculty and AAUP members, and UT president C. E. Brehm and vice-president Andy Holt.
