Abstract: This collection consists of photographs taken from the Col. James Corbitt estate in 1998. The photographs include reprint of the University of Tennessee campus following the civil war, showing the wartime earthworks built during the battle, a photograph of the 1931 College of Engineering faculty, including Nathan Dougherty, professor of civil engineering and Dean of the College of Engineering, and "Red" Matthews, professor of drawing and machine design. Also included are individual head shots of unidentified UT professors and football players, Ferris Hall from 1931, 1931 images of football games from Shields-Watkins Field and negatives.

Biographical Note: Col. James Corbitt was born in Plant, Tennessee, and attended the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, earning a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering in 1931.
Scope and Content Note: This collection consists of photographs taken from the Col. James Corbitt estate in 1998. The photographs include reprint of the University of Tennessee campus following the civil war, showing the wartime earthworks built during the battle, a photograph of the 1931 College of Engineering faculty, including Nathan Dougherty, professor of civil engineering and Dean of the College of Engineering, and "Red" Matthews, professor of drawing and machine design. Collection also includes a photograph of the Pink Palace Mansion in Memphis, TN.
