Biographical Note:  This collection of photographs and slides documents the development of the university over the course of two centuries.  Apart from the absence of materials from the Blount College era, 1794-1807, this collection covers most of the important aspects of the university and has a large number of identified individuals..

Scope and Content Note:  This collection contains photographs and slides relating to the University of Tennessee, including the Knoxville, Nashville, and Memphis campuses.  Covers the nineteenth and late twentieth centuries, with a focus in the post-World War II era.  Much of the container list has specific information about images.  The collections is broken into Photographs and Slides, and then arranged topically.  Below is a breakdown of the two series and the numerous subseries.  Researchers should also consult AR-18 UT Photograph and Slide Collection, 1820s-1990s.
