Biographical Note: Dean L. R. Hesler served for fifteen years as the head of the Department of Botany and for twenty-four years as the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Tennessee. He was recognized as the national authority on mushrooms and related fungi of the Southeastern United States.

Scope and Content Note: This collection consists of photographs and an aluminum bust of Dean Hesler of the Botany Department. The bust was the first casting of a mold of Dean Hesler's head, to be placed on the outer wall of Hesler Hall on the Hill. Photographs include portraits of Dean Hesler in academic dress, a portrait of Hesler on the UT campus, and a negative of Dean Hesler in academic dress.
