Biographical Note: The Department of Botany at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, resided in the biology building, Hesler Hall. It was discontinued as an academic department on January 1, 2005, with the faculty and classes being reassigned in the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, Department of Biochemistry, Cellular and Molecular Biology, or the Division of Biology.
