Biographical Note: The University of Tennessee College of Medicine and Dentistry began originally in 1909 with the merger of existing facilities at the University of Nashville with the University of Tennessee, to form the Medical School of the University of Nashville and the University of Tennessee. In 1910, College of Physicians and Surgeons By 1911, both schools had moved to Memphis, TN, eventually including the School of Pharmacy, Nursing, and Biomedical Sciences. By 1974, it included the College of Medicine, College of Dentistry, College of Nursing, College of Pharmacy, Graduate School of Medical Sciences, and College of Community and Allied Health Professions.
Scope and Content Note: This collection consists of University of Tennessee commencement programs for the College of Medicine and Dentistry, from 1905 to 1974. They include a list of events, speakers, and meetings. After 1924, commencements included a School of Nursing, and after 1938, a School of Biological Sciences. In 1974, commencement exercises were for the College of Medicine, College of Dentistry, College of Nursing, College of Pharmacy, Graduate School of Medical Sciences, and College of Community and Allied Health Professions.
