Residents presented grant at ALA conference in Orlando
July 6, 2004 Minority Librarian Residents Kawanna Bright, Jayati Chaudhuri, and Maud Mundava along with advisor Jill Keally were presented with the 2004 Cultural Diversity Grant from the Library Administration and Management Association (LAMA) during the President's Program at the American Library Association Conference in Orlando, Florida on June 27.
The Residents are using the grant funding to create a Web site that will help minority librarians find residency programs and employment. "We want to create a support network," said Bright.
The grant consists of $1000 that supports the creation and dissemination of resources that will assist library administrators and managers in developing a vision and commitment to diversity. "The Committee found this project to be an outstanding diversity initiative," said LAMA Cultural Diversity Committee Chair Jennifer R. Wright.
The award-winning project is already under development. Visit the Diversity Librarians' Network for more information.
