Counterpart Projects: English

Steven Harris (UTK) and Dale Manning (VU) have met on two occasions and corresponded regularly. Steven gathered data from the North American Title Count reflecting collection size and growth in specific sub-classes of LC classifications PN, PR, PS, PZ, and Z in the three IRIS libraries. Steven identified areas of relative collection strength among the three libraries based on this data.

UK did not participate in the 1997 NATC, and there are some anomalies in the data that affect the accuracy of its presentation of relative strengths. Nonetheless, it may still have potential for use in planning for cooperative collecting in English and American literature.

Shawn Livingston (UK) has not been an active participant in recent discussions. However, Dale has gleaned from the UK English Department website a list of faculty areas of specialization, which roughly corresponds to the research interests of VU's English faculty. The UK web site also lists course descriptions. Such information, along with the NATC data, can provide a basis for Steven and Dale to develop a proposal for cooperative collecting.
