Proxy Bookmarklet Instructions

Proxy Bookmarklet

If you often do your research from off-campus, you can add the proxy bookmarklet to your browser's bookmarks toolbar.

In many cases the bookmarklet lets you log into the proxy (which will give you access to content that UT libraries pays for) without having to browse from the UT Libraries website.

It is still in beta. (contact us if you have problems)

  1. Once you have installed the proxy bookmarklet, navigate to a webpage that is restricted.
  2. Once you are on the page, click on the proxy bookmarklet in your browser's toolbar, and you will be redirected through the proxy server.

Installation Instructions

Internet Explorer:

You might see a security alert that the "favorite may not be safe", although it is. Click "yes" to continue.

Safari or Google Chrome:

  • The bookmarklet is compatible with most web browsers and platforms as long as your bookmarks or favorites allow javascript.
  • If the links toolbar is not visible in your browser, you can try to enable it under the View > Toolbars menu.
  • You can also save the bookmarklet in your bookmarks folder instead of the toolbar.
