Collaborative Activities (Proposals)

With the School of Information Sciences

  • IMLS proposal: $1,205,167, "LibValue" — a broader return-on-investment study for Dec. 2009 – Nov. 2012; to include two Libraries faculty, Gayle Baker and Ken Wise.

  • University of Illinois – NIH proposal: $127,631
    For April 2010 – March 2012; to include one Libraries faculty, Margaret Casado (5%).
    This proposal falls under the NIH Challenge Area of Information Technology for Processing Health Care Data.
    PIs: Carol Tenopir, SIS and Robert Sandusky, UIUC

  • NSF proposal: $248,621, “Improving Classroom Use of Scientific and Scholarly Publications (CUSSP)
    For Jan. 2010 – Dec. 2011; to include one Libraries faculty, Margaret Casado (2%).
    The project aims to update STEM information literacy curricula at two- and four-year institutions (engineering and library faculty), build a collaborative model between such institutions, and develop a partnership with corporations in the private sector to improve undergraduate learning.
    PI: Suzie Allard, SIS.

With the Tennessee State Library and Archives and UT School of Journalism:

  • NEH proposal: Tennessee Newspaper Digitization Project (in preparation) Agency: National Endowment for the Humanities
    Period: 2010 – 2012
    P.I.: JoAnne Deeken
    Purpose: To selectively digitize Tennessee newspapers produced from 1860 to 1920 representing all areas of the state. To describe their historical significance and make them accessible online.
