ScienceLinks2 PhD: Linking Education and Science to Develop the Next Generation of Educators for Science Librarians and Data, Information and Communication Specialists

Purpose: The program will recruit six doctoral students to become science data and information educators, develop science data and information curriculum, and build a model of active science and data librarianship that combines research, teaching, and professional involvment.

Value, Outcomes, and Return on Investment of Academic Libraries ("Lib-Value")

Amount: $1,000,000

Purpose: Lib-Value addresses academic librarians’ growing need to demonstrate the return on investment (ROI) and value of the library to the institution and will help guide library management in the redirection of library funds to important products and services for the future.

To remain relevant and central to the academic mission, academic librarians need to demonstrate the value that the academic library provides to the campus community and need to use proven methods of measurement to determine where their efforts should be concentrated and how funding should be allocated. Lib-Value will provide evidence and a set of tested methodologies and tools to assist academic librarians in these areas.

Purpose: To selectively digitize Tennessee newspapers produced from 1860 to 1920 representing all areas of the state. To describe their historical significance and make them accessible online.
