Information Alliance

Action Items 1994

This is a summary of Information Alliance action items currently in process or under active consideration. Names of individuals leading the efforts are included. During the Nov. 6 meeting of the Alliance these items will be confirmed as ongoing initiatives or removed from the active list if appropriate. New items identified during the meeting will be added to this list.

  1. Conduct collection overlap studies. (Sandra Leach and Bonnie Cox ) After UK completes its Conspectus, analysis will begin

  2. Plan and make joint staff development trips. (Jill Keally and Gail Kennedy ) A successful joint trip was held in 1995

  3. Develop means to regularize meetings and facilitate communication for the Alliance. ( Linda Phillips and Gail Kennedy ) Alliance mission, vision, goals statement is completed and work continues on infrastructure

  4. Seek grant money to support Alliance activities. (Paula Kaufman and Paul Willis ) CLR has awarded support for two Alliance institutes

  5. Purchase complementary materials in interdisciplinary studies. (Sandra Leach and Bonnie Cox) Will be addressed during 1996, with UK and UTK conspectus tools available

  6. Identify collecting areas for contemporary composers. (Pauline Bayne and Paula Hickner)

  7. Jointly purchase major microform sets and share cataloging. (Bonnie Cox and Sandra Leach )

  8. Identify appropriate areas for GIS collaboration and implement one project. (Jim Minton and Kandace Rogers)

  9. Collaboration on Arabic collections (Gail Kennedy , Bonnie Cox, Sandra Leach ) UTK is giving UK selected volumes from its collection. UK has special cataloging project underway for Arabic materials

  10. Develop a joint imaging project. (Joe Rader and Becky Ryder)

  11. Share expertise about distance learning end users. (Sarah Vaughn and Margaret Casado )

  12. Hold regular discussions among UTK and UK librarians in areas of mutual interest. ( Linda Phillips and Gail Kennedy ) These discussions will be a regular feature of Alliance meetings.
